This month’s faves are:
- Almay Wipe It Never Happened™ Longwear & Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Pads
- Neutrogena Clear Face Break-Out Free Liquid Lotion SPF 30
- Clorox Toilet Wand Cleaning System
My first August fave is from Almay and is very similar to a fave I posted back in June of 2018. You can read about it here. What’s different about this month’s fave is that instead of using my own cotton pads or balls this remover has pre-soaked pads that come housed in a plastic tub. There are two sizes available, an 80 pad count or 120 count. I’m a huge fan of the liquid remover and apparently so is everyone else because I was looking to get some one day and it was sold out. The next time I looked it was still sold out so I decided to get the pads. Admittedly I was a little concerned about whether or not they’d get the job done.
When I first unscrewed the lid and unsealed the cover I had my doubts. The first pad I selected felt somewhat dry to the touch which concerned me. I was worried that maybe I got an old batch or maybe they’d be too dry and I’d have to rub and tug to get my mascara off. You can find out what my favorite mascara is and why I love it here. When I actually used it I was surprised to see that there was more remover on the pad than what I initially thought. Actually a lot more. I have not had any issues at all with not having enough moisture on the pads.
When I bought these remover pads I did so because I was in a pinch. I figured they would work til I was able to get my regular remover. But I actually prefer to use these over the liquid remover. Honestly, not having to grab a cotton pad and shake up liquid is kind of nice. It’s not that big of a deal to do that but when I can just grab a pre-moistened pad and there’s enough remover on it to take care of both eyes, that’s a time saver. And these guys remove my eye makeup quickly and easily.
My second august fave keeps me covered
My second August fave is Neutrogena sunscreen. It’s not any regular sunscreen, it’s one specifically made for your face. Having dealt with break-out prone skin my entire life it was a relief to find a sunscreen that wouldn’t cause more break-outs. I have had issues with sunscreen for years. I can use one for a couple of days but eventually it causes me to develop an itchy rash. I’ve finally found one that works for my body but I can’t use it on my face. Because it’s made for the body it’s not too heavy or greasy but it’s scented and I can’t risk it. That’s why I’m glad to have the Neutrogena lotion.
The lotion I have and use is SPF 30 but I’m not sure if they make that one anymore. I’ve been using the Break-Out Free lotion for a couple of years and it’s been great. It’s not heavy but you can still feel it on your face so I probably wouldn’t wear it under makeup. I use it only when I’m outdoors doing activities like swimming, gardening or anything else barefaced.
I’m not going to venture into the “Is this sunscreen safe and free of chemicals” debate with this one. Yes, this is a chemical sunscreen, not a physical barrier sunscreen. It’s one that’s worked for me for years so I am going to continue to use it. When you’ve struggled for as long as I had to find a sunscreen that wouldn’t make you break out in the deep painful cyst-like pimples you stick with it. While I totally suggest that anyone looking for a facial sunscreen check this out remember that everyone’s skin is different. What works for some may not work for everyone but I think it’s worth trying.
August’s third fave really cleans up
My final August fave is my toilet bowl cleaner. I know, crazy right? I’ve been using the Clorox Toilet Wand for over a year now and it’s so convenient. You first have to purchase the starter wand and caddy which comes with the cleaning pads. When you go through your cleaning pads you only have to buy the pad refills.
What I like about the whole system is that it’s so easy to use. You grab the wand, press it onto one of the pads and start scrubbing. When you’re finished you simply click the release tab on the side of the wand and dispose of the used pad in the garbage. It’s so quick and easy that even the kids don’t fuss. And refills aren’t that expensive. If you’re looking for a time saver when cleaning the bathroom these should definitely be on your list of things to try.
