January’s faves:
- Coconut Oil
- Profoot Heel Rescue® Superior Moisturizing Foot Cream
- Rimmel London® Stay Glossy High Shine Lipgloss
My first and second January Faves are products that were used together and I was blown away by the results. The second fave was a First Friday Fave last May but I decided to include it again because it’s AWESOME!
The past few weeks my daughter has been suffering from extremely dry, cracked, almost bleeding hands. She works with cardboard and packing material and with all that and the drier winter weather her hands were severely dried out. To the point, it was almost too painful to bend them. You could almost feel how painful they were just looking at them. They really looked horrible.

Now when I say they looked horrible I’m not referring to just random ashy dryness. I’m talking about knuckles that have actual splits and cracks, are red and rough and actually look painful. She tried everything. We put an antibiotic ointment on the cracks and slathered lotion on them. That didn’t help. We tried cortisone cream and Aquafor among lots of other things and nothing worked. It had gotten to the point where I knew we’d be calling a dermatologist or at the very least our family doctor after the holidays. But I got an idea right before Christmas.
TIP: Try to use 100% pure, unrefined, organic, virgin coconut oil.
A couple of years ago I read about all the antifungal and anti-inflammatory benefits from using 100% pure, unrefined coconut oil on your skin and I know some people who use it as a moisturizer, too. I’ve even used it with my dogs dry skin! Because of these benefits I always try to keep a jar on hand.

In a last-ditch effort to save her hands before calling the docs we slathered a ton of coconut oil over her hands. Actually, she dug a huge dollop out and I had to slather it on her hands and then cover them with socks so she could sleep that night. The next morning her hands were a slight bit better but still nasty looking and hard to bend.

It was the following night that I got the brainstorm to use a little bit of coconut oil first on the cracks and then follow it with the Profoot Heel Cream. I told her to put a bunch on and rub it in. The next day there was a VERY noticeable difference in the dryness and bendability of her hands. I could say I was shocked but I know how great this heel cream worked on my feet so I wasn’t that surprised. I was more overjoyed that my daughter’s hands were not as painful and she wasn’t suffering as bad.

She’s continued with this routine and it’s now the day after New Year’s Day and her hands have recovered dramatically. She’s used the coconut oil and Profoot Heel Rescue Foot Cream for about a week and a half. Her hands are almost back to normal and the cracks have healed. My husband has even started using the heel cream on his dry legs. He’s been very impressed with the results as well. I honestly was so blown away by the improvement my daughter experienced that I felt I had to share this fave again. Yes, it’s a great heel cream, but don’t limit it to just your heels if you need relief elsewhere. If you suffer from extremely dry hands you need to give the Profoot Heel Rescue a try. It is the ONLY lotion/cream that worked for us.
Lipgloss lovers need to try January’s third fave
My last January fave is a lip gloss I’ve been using for a couple of years. Rimmel’s Stay Glossy lip glosses are awesome! I have a ton of colors from the line but my favorite is All Day Seduction. It’s a super easy color to wear adding just enough color to make you look put together but not stuffy. It leans warm like a dark peach with some sparkle.

What’s great about these inexpensive glosses is that they are not super tacky, but you can feel it on your lips, and they wear off nicely. Have you ever worn a lip gloss or lipstick that wears off and leaves a nasty ring around your lips or dries out and makes your lips look like a crusty mess? I have never had that happen with any color in the Stay Glossy glosses. These glosses tend to wear off pretty evenly over time which is a huge plus for me.
You can find the Rimmel Stay Glossy lip glosses at just about any store that sells Rimmel make-up although my local Target didn’t carry the glosses when they carried Rimmel. I have better luck at Walmart and they have a nice selection of colors. I can pick up a tube for less than $4 there.

The colors themselves are pigmented but somewhat translucent. The applicator has a soft sponge pad on the tip and applies the gloss evenly over your lips. I don’t detect any discernible scent when applied. If you are a person who prefers lip glosses over lipstick I would definitely check these out.
